HTC today announced its new HTC HD mini, a Windows Mobile 6.5.3 device, at a packed press event in Barcelona, Spain.

The new handset offers much of the love that the HTC HD2 brought us, but in a much more compact form factor. It will feature a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display, with a 320 x 480 HVGA resolution. The HD mini will be no slouch though with a 600MHz processor.

All the connectivity you expect will be here, with bags of sensors, Wi-Fi, GPS, etc, as well at HSDPA for that lovely rich mobile internet experience.

The handset will run Windows Mobile 6.5.3 for its life, as the hardware specs for Windows Phone 7 mean that the HD mini will never be updated because the screen is too small.

HTC Sense sits on the top of Windows Mobile, enhancing the experience and making it a much more friendly device.
