Panasonic talks camera strategy

Planning Lumix expansions

Panasonic talks camera strategy

18 February 2010 10:52 GMT / By Duncan Geere

At Panasonic's annual conference in Munich, the company chatted a bit about its 2010 strategy for its Lumix and G-system brands - planning expansion for both.

In its "Corporate message" presentation, the company said that its aims for its Lumix brand is to expand the lineup, "pursue easy operation", and expand the availability of lenses for its cameras. That'll be good news for fans of the series.

Given Olympus' recent announcement of the E-PL1, aimed a little lower at those upgrading from a compact, it'll be interesting to see what Panasonic unveils at the Focus on Imaging show on 7 March. The company has been trailing the launch of two new models at that show - and one of them will undoubtedly be a G-series camera.

We'll keep you posted.
