When you want to change music on your MP3 player you normally just reach for your music box and press a button, tap a screen or even in some cases shake it. But DoCoMo, the Japanese mobile phone operator is looking at a different solution; using your eyes.

In what sounds like something out of a Sci-Fi movie about the future, the headphones work by detecting electrooculograms your brain sends out when you move your eyes.

To play, pause, skip tracks or change the volume, you have to roll your eyes or shift them side to side or up and down.

The system, which is voice and hands free even works with your eyes closed.

No word as yet as to when the system will be commercially available.
