MWC 2010: One update, one new device

Toshiba reveals TG02 and K01 mobile phones

15 February 2010 16:58 GMT / By Duncan Geere

At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Toshiba has announced an upgrade to its TG01 phone - the TG02, and a brand new handset equipped with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard - the K01.

The TG02 runs Windows Mobile, and features a redesigned 3D menu interface from the TG01. It keeps the same massive 4.1-inch capacitive touchscreen running at VGA resolution, and adds a 1GHz processor to help keep things ticking when you're running loads of apps at once.

The K01 is more focused on media. It also has a capacitive 4.1-inch touchscreen, but this time it's an OLED display - meaning that it uses less power and delivers a considerably improved picture over a standard LCD screen. It too has a 1GHz processor, and it supports MicroSDHC cards for pumping up the storage.

There's a lot of gaps in the information provided by Toshiba - what OS does the K01 run? How much internal memory do the devices have? Are there headphone jacks, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc? We're on the ground at MWC and we'll be grilling Toshiba for more, so stay tuned.
