The Pentax K-x, already available in black, pearl white, red and navy blue, is due to be released in eight new colours.

From next month shutterbugs will be able to choose from beige, chocolate, metal fuchsia, pink, metal turquoise, metal dark grey, olive green and soft brown.

The entry-level K-x offers 12.4 megapixels, Pentax's PRIME II imaging engine, a 2.7-inch LCD display, live view shooting, movie recording at 1280 x 720 pixels (720p) and 24fps, and high-speed continuous shooting at 4.7 pics per second.

The new colours, produced as limited edition kits with the 18-55mm lens, will go on sale in March, at the same recommended retail price as the existing black version, £599.99.
