LinkedIn hits 60 million users

5 million people in the last 2 months

LinkedIn has announced on its official Twitter account that the company has just signed up its 60 millionth member, a user from Gronigen in the Netherlands.

The social network - which is focused on your professional life, rather than your personal life - has ramped up the pace of its growth lately, recruiting more than 5 million people in less than 2 months. In December, the site announced it had 55 million members - half of which are outside of the USA.

To cope with the growth, the company has been aggressively recruiting - opening new offices in the Netherlands and in India. Back in November, the site introduced a new design, and in December it updated its iPhone application - hoping to increase the amount of people accessing the site through their mobile phones.
