Pet Acoustics offers speaker specially for dogs, cats and horses

As it's not 1 April, we're forced to believe a press release just landed in the Pocket-lint in-tray that announces the launch of the world's first sound system for your pets.

Apparently all these years you've been subjecting Tiddles, Rover or Dobbin to Enya on your standard stereo equipment has been torture, and not just because of your terrible music taste.

Pet Acoustics asserts that its new speakers "eliminates unsettling frequencies" found at the high and low end of music that can "startle or cause discomfort" to our furry friends.

"My Pet Speaker" not only offers a decidedly wussy frequency response range but "boasts an Omni directional speaker with a 4-inch drive unit and cone reflector which disburses the music in 360 degrees recreating how animals hear in nature".

The hefty bit of audio kit gets "backside buttons to avoid pets contact with operation panel" and a nice faux wood veneer.

The speaker is available to pre-order now direct from Pet Acoustics, as well as Amazon, for $259.
