Aside of its dalliances with touchscreens, Toshiba has also rolled out the Satellite Pro S500 - a business-oriented laptop with extended security and ergonomic features.
It's got a 15.6-inch, 16:9 display along with a specially-designed scratch-resistant chassis, so you should be able to chuck it about a bit without it getting too dinged up. It has VGA and MiniDisplayPort connectors, for hooking up to a projector or extra monitor.
On the inside, there's an Intel Core i3 chip running at 2.13Ghz, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a small-ish 320GB hard disk, and a/g/n Wi-Fi capabilities. There's a DVD rewriter, Bluetooth on certain models, and three USB ports - one of which doubles as eSATA and will charge devices even while the laptop's off.
There's a full numpad, for spreadsheet fanatics, and there's also a fingerprint reader for security purposes. An eco button on the keyboard allows access to Toshiba's eco utility that reduces power consumption by up to 25 percent, reducing battery usage too, of course.
The Toshiba Satellite Pro S500 is available now, and can be yours for prices starting from £500.
