Windows Mobile 7 all but confirmed?

Steve Ballmer heading to Mobile World Congress

10 February 2010 13:37 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Microsoft has confirmed that Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, will be giving Microsoft's keynote speech at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona suggesting big things will be on the cards for the Redmond based company.

The rumour mill has been driven by comments made by Microsoft previously that it is likely to show Windows 7 in February at the mobile phone trade show.

Robbie Bach, Microsoft's president of entertainment and devices division, has previously been quoted confirming the OS will be on show at the industry event that takes place in Spain from 15 February this year.

Bach said the next-gen version of the mobile operating system will "set the bar forward not in (just) an evolutionary way", and that Microsoft is going to be "more engaged" with OEMs.

Pocket-lint will be live at Mobile World Congress from Sunday covering and tracking all the major announcements as they happen. To follow all the news from the show visit our MWC homepage.

The new OS is expected to merge features from the current 6.5.3 OS with features from the company's Zune MP3 player.
