eBay to launch eBay Express

eBay launch site that ditches auctions

24 April 2006 12:31 GMT / By Stuart Miles

eBay has launched a new service that promises to help shoppers buy products at fixed prices from others rather than go through the rigmarole of bidding on items.

eBay Express, currently in preview, is to only offer items at a fixed price by top eBay sellers.

The service, which is rumoured to be launching this week, will also allow shoppers to buy from multiple eBay Express merchants via a single shopping cart system and pay one complete amount via PayPal or your credit card.

To be able to sell on the site, eBay is insisting that sellers have a feedback rating of 100 or more and at least 98% of it positive.

Like eBay, the shopping site will cover all range of items from antiques to computers to clothes.

In other news, eBay has acquired Tradera.com auction site in Sweden.
