Contrasts sharply with the Droid's manly ads

Verizon is angling the Palm Pre Plus mobile phone straight at the "mom market" in the States, which may well damage sales long term if it puts non-mom types off the phone.

Two adverts - one of which is shown above - states the device is "smart enough to keep up with mom", a real contrast from Verizon's Motorola Droid advertising in which said it "makes you feel like a four star general with natural charisma, twelve arms and the power of mind control".

Engadget suggests that this, as well as the macho "Stealth" advert for the Droid, means Verizon's advertising says the Droid is for men and the Pre is for women, but what do you think?

Would you buy a phone angled at "moms" if you're a guy? Is Verizon sexist? Can different phones be better for different sexes? Are we reading too much into advertising messages? Have your say in the comments box below.
