Sony's new E Series of Vaios has been announced and replaces the NW Series in its consumer notebook line-up. Said to be compact, the claim for the E Series is that it offers multimedia features you'd expect to find on bigger, bulkier options.

Spec for the 15-inch VPCEBZ0E/B comes in with an HD display, 2.26GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive, ATI Mobility Radeon HD graphics, three side-mounted USB ports and a fourth high-speed eSATA/USB port.

Features include a full-size keyboard with numeric keypad, quick start "WEB" button to start surfing "in seconds", Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, webcam and Wi-Fi.

Pocket-lint was at the London launch to grab some hands on photos of the new notebooks and we'll let you know pricing info when we have it.
