Apple has wangled some pretty impressive product placement at this year's Grammy Awards in the States as the iPad made a brief appearance on stage at the star-studded, celebrity event.

After pretending he had lost the nominee list he was due to read out, Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report, a Daily Show spin-off, produced an iPad from inside his jacket, presumably from a gigantic inner pocket.

"Jay-Z did you not get one of these in your giftbag?" asked Colbert as he held the device up to the cameras which demoed the auto-rotate functionality rather well. "Am I cooler than you?"

Hit play on the clip above to see the brief video - we wonder where else the iPad will turn up before it's turned loose?
