Asus announces G51J 3D laptop

Bundled with active-shutter glasses and the Avatar game

Fresh outta CES in Las Vegas, Asus is already announcing more products. This time, it's the G51J 3D - a gaming-oriented 3D laptop that's powered by Nvidia's 3D Vision active shutter technology.

The main feature, of course, is the 120Hz display. That's split between the eyes when you're wearing the 3D Vision shutter glasses, meaning that you get the appearance of a regular 60Hz display, but in 3D. It'll have a 15.6-inch display, a GeForce GTX 260M graphics card, Intel Core i7 processor and Altec Lansing speakers.

It ships with a voucher for grabbing the 3D game for Avatar, but that's been widely panned by critics, so you might be more interested to hear that more than 400 existing games can be converted to 3D, including Resident Evil 5, World of Warcraft, Borderlands, and Batman: Arkham Asylum. 3D movies can also be watched.

The G51J 3D will be appearing from February 2010 and will cost £1700. Rather expensive, but from the looks of the specs you're getting a pretty decent gaming PC on top of the ability to play and watch 3D content. We'll bring you a full review in time.
