Samsung announced 2GB postage stamp sized memory card

Memory gets even smaller

Samsung has said that it has developed a tiny 2GB memory card for use in mobile phone, just 3 months after it announced a card with half of that capacity.

The 2GB MMCmicro card is about the size of a postage stamp and just 1.1mm thick (12 x 14 x 1.1mm).

According to Samsung, the card can store 12 hours of mobile video and is fast enough to download 3 hours of it in under 2 minutes.

An adapter allows the card to be plugged into any multimedia card slot.

The card can read at 10MB per second and write at 7MB per second.

Both the 2GB and 1GB cards are expected to become available later this year, Samsung said.

The company has no word yet on pricing.
