Friends Reunited, the online reunion site that re-connected old flames as well as enemies from our school days, is to become a television show in the UK.

Friends Reunited: The School Run is to be broadcast from next month on ITV Play, ITV's newly launched digital quiz channel available on Freeview, Satellite and Cable.

ITV bought the website last December in a deal worth more than £170 million, earning the site's husband and wife team over £120m in the process.

It is thought to be the first time a website has spawned a Television show.

The show will be based around a nostalgia format and involve studio contestants answering fact and trivia questions about a specific year.

Other highlights of the channel include the return of darts quiz Bullseye and a pub quiz filmed in Coronation Street's Rovers Return.

ITV is hoping that the new channel, completely funded by phone-ins rather than sold advertising will be a success.
