The Highbury Auction - Arsenal under the hammer

Arsenal are approaching the end of their days at their famous stadium in Highbury

Arsenal are approaching the end of their days at their famous stadium in Highbury where the team has been playing since 1913, before moving to the Emirates stadium.

The website - www.highburyauction.com - is running a 9 month auction to clear out the stadium, allowing Gunners fans to own a piece of the history from one of Europe-s most prestigious playing grounds.

Whilst some non-believers will see this as an opportunity for the company to cash in on some of it's fixed assets, and recoup some costs, others will be delirious to own a Highbury bin or PA system.

So what treasures are up for grabs?

Well, of course, there are all the catering items, like hot dog cookers, which probably won't get anyone too excited. But digging deeper, you find you can buy the wheelie bins, the turnstiles, the goal posts and nets. Perhaps not that exciting.

But other items, such as George Graham's old desk, and the contents of the MD's office will get fans into a lather. You could also get your hands on the double decker bus from the 1989 trophy parade, which currently resides in the Arsenal Museum.

The get involved with the action, head over to the website and register. Then you will have to buy the catalogue to guarantee access to the big auction event on 29 July ? the catalogue will set you back ?20, plus postage.

Of course, you could just buy a piece of the pitch for ?25.
