Apple is currently in talks with UK mobile phone operators about them offering its rumoured iTablet, or iSlate device, reports The Guardian.

While the device still only exists in the realm of rumours, Apple is holding a media event on 27 January, thought to almost certainly be the launch pad for the tablet PC.

Unlike Apple's iPhone, which launched as an exclusive to one operator almost every in the world it was available, the Guardian report suggests that Apple will not be seeking a similar sales model for the tablet.

It seems the iSlate will be available in the UK on several networks bundled with 3G mobile broadband contracts, although the price is set to be high - around £800 is the estimate in this report.

"The device has created a buzz among mobile phone operators not seen since Apple pitted several networks against each other in the race for the exclusive British rights to sell the iPhone in 2007", says the news piece, before stating that Apple is talking to Orange - and that O2 and Vodafone are also interested.

As these are the three networks in the UK that currently offer the iPhone, it adds up.

We will keep you posted, but with a March US launch only followed by a UK debut later in the year, it might be a little while before any concrete details as far as availability in the UK emerge.
