Apple has sent out invites for its much talked-up January event, thought to be the launch pad for the as-yet-unconfirmed Apple iTablet.

While there is nothing remotely official from Apple as far as what can be expected from the event in terms of product launches or announcements, the invites read "come see our latest creation" and appear to take the shape of a paint-splattered rectangular device.

Apple's iTablet is thought to be a brand new product from the iPod-maker, taking the form of a large iPhone with screen size rumoured to come in between 7- and 11-inches.

The invite-only event is due to take place in San Francisco on 27 January - so not long to go now - but we will keep you posted.
