WEBSITE OF THE DAY - Disasters Emergency Committee

Do what you can - a little will go a long way

15 January 2010 0:00 GMT / By Ian Hughes

With  the news full of reports of aid not getting through to those who need it in Haiti, there’s a danger people might start to think they don’t need to donate.

Not so. The situation is getting worse minute by precious minute as the search for survivors goes on, and disease, dehydration and malnutrition take hold across the whole country.

The Disasters Emergency Committee is the umbrella organisation for all the main charity and relief bodies on the ground and they need our help. Money raised will pay for ration kits that will feed people without the need for cooking facilities and it will pay for sanitation stations that will provid the much needed clean drinking water. What we give will give these people a chance.

Do what you can today – however small your donation, it will make a big difference.
