Orange denies Apple iTablet confirmation

12 January 2010 10:03 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Further to the news from France that a France Telecom (Orange's parent company) exec appeared to have confirmed the existence of the much-rumoured Apple iTablet, the operator has moved to deny the reports.

"A few comments taken out of context, then interpreted into English", is how Orange's public relations department explained away the reports to PaidContent.

"These responses in no way reflect Orange's confirmation of the existence of the rumoured device. The spokesperson was merely confirming that he is aware of the speculation surrounding a launch and that Orange would be delighted to have such a product were it ever to be available", Orange said in a statement.

Apple is expected to hold a media event later in January to announce the device, although officially, nothing has been confirmed. We will keep you posted.
