Twitter advertises to fill 27 positions

Staff expansion plans see three jobs for "monetization"

Popular micro-blogging service Twitter is currently advertising 27 positions as the company plans for further expansion in 2010 by increasing its staff by around a fifth. Among the vacancies are positions dealing with "monetization" to help Twitter with its aim to become profitable. These include two engineers and a "product marketing manager, monetization".

The marketing role is said to be to work on "enhancing business users' understanding of the value of Twitter". "The work can range from better packaging existing features for businesses, to managing all outbound marketing for new monetization products, to analysing customer needs for improved product development", says Twitter in the job ad.

With Twitter's funding from investors said to have hit the $100 million mark, valuing the company at $1 billion, the pressure will soon be on for the site to turn a profit, some plans for which were recently revealed as advanced, paid-for accounts for businesses with some beta features currently being tested.
