Computer manufacturer Asus has teamed up with fast car maker Lamborghini to unveil a new co-branded laptop that promises both speed and good looks.

The new model, called the ASUS-Lamborghini VX1 will cost just under £2000 is expected to be available at the end of April.

The new ASUS-Lamborghini VX1 is based on the Intel's Centrino Duo mobile technology with Intel Core Duo processor T2500 as well as promising to weight less than most 14-inch notebooks even though the laptop actually comes with a 15-inch screen.

Meanwhile the ASUS Power4 Gear+ power management automatically adjusts CPU speed according to system load offering up to eight operation modes that are designed for gaming, watching DVD, listening to music and word processing. This innovation supposedly extends battery life up to 20-25%, providing a reliable and continuous operation power on the go.

Built-in WLAN 802.11 a/b/g ensures wireless Internet access wherever reception is available and Bluetooth 2.0 enhanced data rate provides data transfers at a rate that is three times faster than the standard Bluetooth.

Full specs include a Colour Shine Glare Type 15-inch SXGA + (1400 x 1050) screen, nVIDIA GeForce 7400/512MB Turbocache graphics card, a 120GB hard drive, DVD 9.5-inch Super-Multi Double Layer and 1GB DDRII - 667 MHz Ram.

This however is not the first time a car manufacturer has joined forces with a computer company to produce a branded laptop. Acer has had a long standing relationship with Ferrari producing labelled models, while Hummer in the States also has its own range of tough laptops.
