While the TV companies are offering high-end, wallet-hungry solutions to 3D TV delivery, Vuzix has rolled out yet another pair of Wraps that's been playing the game for years - this time, though, they're adding augmented reality too.
The Vuzix Wrap 920AR offers single 1504 x 480px side-by-side images for your eyes, equivalent to a 67-inch display as viewed from 10ft. Set within the lens of a pair of sunglasses, it means that you can superimpose these images onto whatever real world situation you like and, of course, create a genuine 3D stereoscopic result without the need to flicker at speed.
The images work at 60fps rates and take inputs from Mac, Linux, Windows or whatever you like so long as you have the $799 to buy them in the first place. They feature 6-degree fine tracker control in each axis - including depth - meaning that you can fine tune the hanging image to any part of the visual field that you like. All you need to do now is wait until the second half of 2010 to get them.
