Panasonic and LG detail coming-soon Skype-happy TVs

CES 2010: LG's NetCast range and Panny's VIERA CASTs to get the goods

Skype's big news from CES is that it is to make a move into the living room as it's due to be pre-loaded onto internet-enabled TVS meaning that, with a suitable webcam, users will be able to videocall from their goggle boxes.

Further to that news, LG and Panasonic, the two TV companies initially partnering with Skype on the launch, have revealed more details about the TVs that will get the VoIP service.

In alpha order, LG's new offerings will be the company's 2010 HDTVs with NetCast Entertainment Access that will feature the embedded Skype software.

Skype will be available on 26 new LED, LCD and plasma HDTVs planned for 2010, some of which will be shown off at the CES show in Las Vegas this week.

Panasonic's line of 2010 VIERA CAST-enabled HDTVs planned for launch in spring 2010 will make up its Skype-enabled offerings, while it will also offer a "specially-designed high-performance Panasonic camera", sold as a separate accessory, to complete its Skype package.
