Voting for the second annual "Shorty Awards" (honouring the best producers of short real-time content, i.e., via Twitter) is now live.

Described as a "fun way to show appreciation to the people behind the tweets we read every day", Sawhorse Media's Awards will culminate with an awards ceremony, complete with 140-character acceptance speeches, in New York in March.

"The Shorty Awards honor the best people and organizations on Twitter. These unique awards are for the Twitter community, by the Twitter community", says the official blurb.

There are 27 official categories in which votes are currently being collated, that range from advertising to customer service via humour, weird, and of course, tech.

There's more info on the site about the whole process, but as a quick guide to voting, you'll need to tweet the following: "I nominate @TwitterUser for a Shorty Award in #category because..."

Check out the site now to see highlights from last year's awards and get voting now.
