D-Link has brought free entertainment to HDTVs everywhere today with the launch of the Boxee Box at CES 2010. Designed as a hardware, set top box unit to work with the already popular Boxee desktop software, the Boxee Box brings a huge library of web vids, access to music sites like Pandora and Last.fm as well as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Picasa and more.

There's still no word on whether it's coming to countries outside the US, but we do know that in terms of video it supports Adobe Flash 10.1, H.264 (MKV, MOV), VC-1, WMV, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, AVI, Xvid, Divx, PCM/LPCM, VOB. With audio being supported through MP3, WMA, WAV, AIFF, FLAC, AAC, DTS, Dolby Digital, Ogg Vorbis. And photo support coming in the form of JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PNG with no need to mess around with downloading any other codecs.

The Boxee Box has 802.11n Wi-Fi support and will download your computer media files over your network while automatically finding album and cover art to go with them, which will make your files more than just identical icons.

The unit will come in at under $200 with no monthly fees, it's available in the first half of this year and has a platform ready for any widgets and add-ons that Boxee will release.
