Super speed USB 3.0 has arrived in genuine, actually possible to buy and enjoy form today with the launch of the Western DigitalMyBook 3.0 now updated to be compatible with the 5Gbps standard.

These WD HDDs are available from today in the 1TB size for $179.99 USD and will soon be out in the 2TB version later in the week, but the fun doesn't end there. For $199, you can buy one of these speedy storage devices in a kit which includes a USB 3.0 adaptor card to turn your computer into a state of the art, high speed machine machine, or thereabouts.

Just in case the idea of faster transfer rates hasn't already got you hot, then the stats are that USB 3.0 is around 10x faster than creaky old USB 2.0 and you'll be able to transfer a two hourHD movie in less than three minutes. See, now you want one. Oh, and just in case you're worried, USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with the older, slower standards.
