Apple App Store hits 3 billion downloads

"This is like nothing we’ve ever seen before", says Jobs

Apple has officially announced that more than 3 billion apps have now been downloaded from the App Store by iPhone and iPod touch users worldwide.

The new milestone has been reached an astonishing 2 calendar months since Apple revealed it had hit the 2 billion mark, a stat that even non-Apple fans would have to admit is impressive.

"Three billion applications downloaded in less than 18 months - this is like nothing we’ve ever seen before", said Steve Jobs.

"The revolutionary App Store offers iPhone and iPod touch users an experience unlike anything else available on other mobile devices, and we see no signs of the competition catching up anytime soon".
