Palm Pre to get paid-for Apps in UK in March

4 January 2010 21:10 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Palm has announced that it will be bringing paid-for apps to Europe and the UK in March.

The move will mean that Palm Pre users will finally have apps to buy rather than just ones that are free.

"Following the launch of the e-commerce program in the U.S., we are excited to announce that the European e-commerce program is planned to go live in March 2010", the company said in a statement on their official blog.

Claiming the US program a success (there are now 600 paid apps in total) the company is hoping Europe is just as excited even though it has yet to announce the Palm Pixi outside of America.

Perhaps a dig at Apple and its popular App Store, Palm states that "For developers looking to make money, it’s all about speed, promotion, and reacting to customer feedback. Our platform gives you greater access to customers and faster cycle times to make higher-quality, compelling applications".

The mobile phone maker is looking for developers to get in touch.
