L5 Remote add-on turns iPhone into universal remote control

5 January 2010 9:41 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

A new iPhone add-on and app has launched with the promise it will turn any iPhone or iPod touch into a universal remote control.

L5 Technology's L5 Remote will allow iPhone owners to control televisions, DVDs, PVRs, cable boxes, audio equipment, and most other products that come with an infra-red remote, via their phone.

The L5 Remote is comprised of a small hardware device that plugs into an iPhone or iPod touch dock connector, plus a free app to be available from the iTunes App Store.

Boasting quick and easy set-up using a drag and drop feature, and with customisation options, the L5 Remote is priced at $49.95 and will be available for purchase in February in the States.
