Marantz is offering an alternative to its £5000 flagship universal Blu-ray player with the launch of a £2299 effort.
The new Marantz UD8004 universal high definition player claims to offer tech from its big brother but with a fractionally more affordable price tag.
The Blu-ray/CD/Super Audio/DVD-Audio player is a Profile 2.0 device - so BD-Live enabled - that also upscales DVDs.
Features include built-in decoders for Dolby True HD and DTS HD and an SD card slot for playback of WMA, MP3, AVCHD and JPEG files.
Anyone with a spare £2k can snap one up now.
