Broken down in the snow and ice? There's an app for that

ATA Find A Mechanic iPhone app available to help you get home for Christmas

There's an iPhone app that claims it can help motorists struggling with finding help in the current hazardous driving conditions, as Britain tries to make it home for Christmas.

A new ATA iPhone app from The Institute of the Motor Industry can help drivers locate a skilled and fully-qualified ATA technician close to their location, or via a postcode search.

The free, easy-to-use app can be downloaded from the App Store now, so that if the worst happens on your journey, help is, in theory, in the palm of your hand.

ATA is a national, independent scheme that tests the skills of mechanics across the UK - in both big dealerships and smaller garages.

To download the app, search for "ATA Find A Mechanic" at the App Store on your iPhone or via iTunes.
