The BBC has released a few stats about the Red Button service which it's been running for the last twelve years or so. A full 11 million people press the red button each week, and the BBC has pushed more content to it this year than it ever has before.

For Christmas, there's 24 how-to guides for a "Victorian Christmas", along with karaoke Christmas Top Of The Pops. There's also been a million people who've tuned into the animated Doctor Who "Dreamland" episodes.

The Red Button's managing editor at the BBC, John Denton, said: "This year has proven that audiences love choice and enjoy the extra interactivity that the red button service can provide and we're pleased that, as UK television becomes fully digital, we've been able to take this incredible performance to even more viewers".

The BBC red button has won four Baftas, and an Emmy.
