The discovery of a new planet this week in the constellation Ophiuchus - named GJ 1214b - caught our imagination, so we thought it might be nice to feature this cut-price telescope which is available from Jessops for £45.

The Jessops 800-80 Astronomical Telescope has an 800mm focal length and 80mm objective diameter and is possibly an ideal gift for anyone who has expressed more than just a passing interest in the night sky.

Along with the telescope you'll get three eye pieces, an aluminium tripod, 3 x Barlow Lens, reflector telescope and  an electronic red dot finder scope. For full details you can follow this link that'll take you to the Jessops website, which also offers free standard delivery.
