It seems the recently announced BlackBerry inPluse smartwatch accessory made especially for users of the RIM-made smartphones has proved popular.

Allerta, the company behind the new gadget, has revealed that its first batch of watches have sold out.

"Thanks to the amazing support of our eager soon-to-be customers, the first production batch of inPulse smartwatches has been (more than) fully pre-ordered", says the company in a blog post.

"We are still aiming to have the first batch shipped out to these lucky pre-orderers during Feb 2010".

Those interested in the device can still pre-order, but they won't be getting their watch until April 2010, when the second batch is due.

The inPulse smartwatch connects wirelessly to BlackBerrys and offers alerts for incoming emails, SMS and calls for a $149 price tag.
