Google Guru appears in product list

18 December 2009 12:08 GMT / By Duncan Geere

A mysterious service has popped up on Google's product list called "Guru", which is accompanied by text that reads "Ask questions and get answers from online users".

It links through to guru.google.com/guru which is offline at the time of writing, but the URL is close to a service from Google Thailand that provides similar-sounding Q&A functionality. Russia and Poland also have user-powered Q&A services.

Google once ran a similar service in English called Google Answers, but it's no longer operational. Could Google Guru be a relaunching of that site with a new name? One of Yahoo's success stories has certainly been Yahoo Answers.

We'll keep you posted.
