Fan up for freebies

Apple is giving away five free songs to UK-dwellers who sign up to become a fan of iTunes on Facebook.

As part of iTunes' "Indie Spotlight" programme, the freebie tunes are predetermined, rather than a pick-what-you-want option.

Those fan-ing iTunes on the popular social networking site will get codes to download Phoenix's "Lisztomania", "It's Not The Things You Say" (feat Kele Okereke) by Tiesto, Lethal Bizzle's "Going Out Tonight", "Got Yr Thing" by Drums Of Death and "Line" by Portico Quartet.

Codes are available "while supplies last", says Apple, a little mysteriously, considering digital downloads are theoretically infinite.
