21-inch capacitive touch panel built

Maker claims that it's the world's largest

A Taiwanese panel-maker has built what it claims is the "world's largest" capacitive touchscreen display. It's also started shipping 10.1-inch capacitive touch panels and 3D panels, which means a wave of touchscreen netbooks could soon be upon us.

If that transpires, then it could bode well for the netbook rollout of Windows 7, which has plenty of touchscreen functionality, and Android, which was built from the ground up for touchscreen handsets.

CPT is also producing touch panels using optical touch and in-cell photo sensing, and panels built with these technologies will begin to shop in early 2010, the company says.

We'll keep you posted of further touchscreen developments, but expect plenty more touchscreen laptops on the horizon in 2010.
