Virgin Digital Help launches

Virgin has announced the launch of Virgin Digital Help said to be aimed at "getting Britain's digital stuff to work" that rivals existing services from the likes of the TechGuys.

The Virgin Group's first new company in the UK in 3 years, the service is available online, over the phone and through home visits.

The start point for the service is the "Desktop Digital Helper", described as a free digital toolkit. It's a software package that includes AVG 9.0 and 100 self-help guides.

For £2.99 a month, consumers can then access a set of "automated fixes" and get access to 70,000 self-help solutions and over 1000 video tutorials.

As well as help with software and PCs, laptops, netbooks, printers and wireless connections, the service can offer assistance with smartphones, games consoles, MP3 players, digital cameras and camcorders.

Phone support is from £6.99 a month, while home visits start from £90. There's more information on the service at www.virgindigitalhelp.co.uk.
