Twitter has revealed one of its mythical new tools for businesses that it hopes will add enough value to commercial accounts to eventually see the service becoming profitable from such a customer base.

A simple idea, but arguably a useful one, Twitter is trialling the option for business accounts on the micro blogging service to be managed by more than one person. Dubbed "Contributors" at this early beta testing stage, in a blog post Twitter explains the functionality as follows:

"It enables users to engage in more authentic conversations with businesses by allowing those organizations to manage multiple contributors to their account. The feature appends the contributor's username to the tweet byline, making the business to consumer communication more personal; e.g. if @Twitter invites @Biz to tweet on its behalf, then a tweet from @Twitter would include @Biz in the byline so that users know more about the real people behind organizations".

The beta is to be released to a "limited subset of folks for some time" so that Twitter can gauge feedback with a full launch promised if it proves successful. In the mean time stay tuned for more news as Twitter says this feature is "one of several in development". We will keep you posted.
