The Guardian has launched a new iPhone application with the claim of "speed, customisation, a great design aesthetic and ease of navigation through the full breadth of Guardian content, in your pocket - wherever your are".

As far as the price goes, The Guardian says it has "set the bar high" with the investment required to do so meaning a cost passed on to the user of £2.39, but that this "offers great value for money".

While the iPhone app has been developed (with help from 2ergo) because "a significant percentage" of page impressions on mobile come from iPhones, the paper says stay tuned for news of Android, RIM, Symbian and Windows Mobile announcements "in due course".

Hit play on the video above for a quick walkthrough and we'll keep you posted with the other platform announcements.
