Nexus One, aka Google phone snapped

The Google phone has gone from being a rumour to now being snapped in the wild by a San Francisco based blogger. No doubt many will claim this is an orchestrated teaser campaign to whip up the tech world into a frenzy over the new launch.

Details are still incredibly thin on the ground, but the picture found by Techcrunch, which isn't blurry, turned up on Twitter over the weekend.

"Playing with the new Google phone: http://twitpic.com/tbdig", tweeted Cory O'Brien before following up the tweet with "Google Phone = iPhone + a little extra screen and a scroll wheel. Great touch screen, and Android".

The Nexus One, as it seems it will be known, looks to be the same as the HTC Passion/Bravo we heard about in October and comes with a large touch screen and trackball beneath it.

If that wasn't enough to get you excited, Engadget has dug up some images taken with the phone's 5-megapixel camera that has been posted to Google's photo sharing service Picasa - the post is now showing a "500 internal Server Error"

The phone, which first broke cover at the weekend has already got the tech industry in a flurry over when it will be available and how it will, supposedly, change the industry.
