Motorola Milestone is on sale in the UK now

eXpansys' sales start - £449 for SIM-free handset

Arguably Motorola's biggest launch since the RAZR, the Motorola Milestone - the European version of the already launched Droid (just named Time's gadget of the year) is now available in the UK.

Rather than go down the increasingly-common, operator-exclusive route, Motorola has taken the unusual step of making the device available through one retailer, in this instance eXpansys, at least until the end of the year.

Notable for being the first Android 2.0 phone and the world's thinnest QWERTY slider at 13.7mm, the Milestone gets a high-res, 3.7-inch display with multi-touch, pinch and zoom, and double tap zoom capabilities.

Google bits and bobs include search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube as well as apps available to download from the Android Market app store.

With a fast processor, and capable of multi-tasking, the Milestone also offers a 5-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth 2.1, a 3.5mm headset jack and comes with an 8GB memory card.

eXpansys is selling the Milestone, SIM-free and unlocked for £449.99 or from £49.99 when bundled with an 18-month, £35 a month T-mobile contract.
