10 December 2009 12:41 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

While here in the UK we've brought you the news recently that Nokia is to close its flagship Regent Street store, two more shops have been pinpointed for closure in the States.

It's been revealed that Nokia's flagship stores in the States - one in New York and one in Chicago - are also due to be closed down.

Nokia currently has 12 such "flagship" stores across the globe, and tells the Wall Street Journal: "We've no plans currently to close any more stores".

The Regent Street store opened in 2008. Regarding its closure, Nokia told Pocket-lint.com:

"Nokia is crystallizing its branded retail strategy, aiming at improving operational efficiency of its retail network. This requires revamping of the retail network and, as a consequence, Nokia has plans to close Nokia Regent Street in Q1 2010".
