A website has launched which allows you to send real packages to your internet friends. SendSocial was conceived on Twitter, and allows you to get a parcel to a Twitter account or email address without the recipient having to disclose their personal details.

The way it works is that you sign up on the site and put in a Twitter ID or email address. That person gets an email informing them of the gift they're going to receive, and asks them to securely input where they'd like it to be delivered to. The sender then pays, and a courier arrives the next day, delivering the package in 3-5 days.

Pricing goes up the more expensive the parcel is - 0-2kg is £4, 2-5kg costs £7 and a 5-10kg package will cost £8. There's additional fees if you want a signature on delivery, or if it has to be sent to an IM, HS or ZE postcode, which covers the Isle of Man, Outer Hebrides and Shetland Isles respectively. £25 of compensation cover is included free.

You can sign up at SendSocial.com, and the company has an addressless parcel system which allows couriers to find out where they're going, but denies the sender access to the same information. At the moment it's limited to the UK only.
