The Government's Audit Commission has launched a website called Oneplace which allows you to check out your local services, and see how they rate against others across the rest of the UK.
The site, which has just gone live and is running a little slowly at the time of writing, lets UK citizens input their postcode to see how their area performs. Things it's doing well at are given green flags, but bad things are given red flags. Top areas are Kent and Suffolk, along with the London boroughs of Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea.
At the bottom end, though, are Warrington and Doncaster. The former picks up three red flags for failing to take action on unemployment, not reducing health inequalities and not safeguarding children. Warrington's town hall has been rated as "adequate", however, unlike Doncaster which picked up two red flags for housing and for "poor prospects for children".
Warrington has called the project "woolly", and the Conservative party has blasted it as a "waste of resources". Two London councils have threatened to withdraw due to the costs involved.
However, we'd like to know what you think. Is this a valuable way of holding your councillors to account, or a pointless box-ticking exercise? Tell us in the comments.
