Google has rolled out a new program that'll see QR codes appearing in the windows of businesses which have been the most sought out and researched on Google.com and Google Maps.

The full list is pretty comprehensive and covers 9,000 towns and cities in all 50 states. An abbreviated version, covering the 20 largest US cities, is on Google's website. The locations in the list are all being sent a window decal which features a QR code that'll take you to its place page on your phone, with reviews, the possibility of getting a coupon, and the ability to "star" a location for the future.

To read those, though, you'll need a QR code reader. Google recommends the Barcode Scanner app on its Android platform, and is giving away 40,000 copies of the normally-$2 QuickMark app for the first downloaders to get there. For other devices, Google recommends searching for the model of your phone and "qr reader" on its search engine.

If you own, or manage, one of the businesses in the list - which just covers the USA for now, you should be getting a decal within the next couple of weeks. If you haven't been picked, go hit up Google's Local Business Centre and make sure your listing is accurate and full of photos and videos.
