Today Ubisoft announced that it is bringing back its cute platform gaming character Rayman.

The new Rayman video game is being developed by Ubisoft's Montpellier studio, creator of the original Rayman game and other titles such as Beyond Good & Evil and Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie.

The new Rayman video game will launch in time for Christmas 2006 on current and next-generation consoles.

"Rayman is one of the brands that encapsulate Ubisoft's ability to create characters and universes that appeal to all kinds of players", said Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer at Ubisoft. "We are expecting this new Rayman video game to sweep players off their feet."

Ubisoft's iconic brand has entertained generations of gamers for 10 years and to date has sold more than 16 million units world-wide.
