Are you a somniloquist? 50% of young kids talk in their sleep frequently, but most lose the habit by the time they reach puberty, and only 4% of adults suffer from the condition.
If you want to find out whether you're one of that tiny sliver of the population, you could practice Polysomnography and hook up a tape recorder by your bed and then spend hours listening to the playbacks every day. Alternatively you could try the Let It Sleep app for the iPhone.
It uses the phone's microphone to monitor the environment, and if the noise level goes above a certain threshold it'll begin recording, stopping when it goes quiet again. As a result, you just get the juicy bits - not the long periods of silence in between.
What's the best thing you, or anyone you know has said in their sleep? We have a friend who once yelled "the bacon's in the bin, it's on fire, it's on fire!". Share your stories in the comments.
Thanks to Niki for the tip.
